Background
Usman, a 32-year-old software developer, presented with severe pain in both wrists and forearms that had been worsening over 6 months. He was struggling to type for more than 15 minutes without significant pain, threatening his ability to work.
Initial Assessment
Assessment revealed bilateral carpal tunnel syndrome symptoms with weakened grip strength, tenderness along forearm extensor muscles, and poor ergonomic workstation setup. Nerve conduction studies confirmed mild carpal tunnel compression.
Treatment Approach
Treatment included nerve gliding exercises, soft tissue mobilisation, wrist splinting during sleep, ergonomic workstation modification, and a gradual return-to-typing programme with structured breaks.
Results
After 6 weeks, Usman reported 80% improvement in symptoms. By week 10, he was working full 8-hour days without pain. He continues to follow ergonomic guidelines and perform preventive exercises.
