Background
Nasreen Bibi, a 68-year-old retired teacher, underwent total hip replacement surgery due to severe osteoarthritis. She was referred to Aspire Wellness for post-operative rehabilitation with the goal of returning to independent living.
Initial Assessment
Post-surgery, Nasreen required a walking frame and assistance for all mobility tasks. She had significant hip flexion weakness and was fearful of movement due to surgical pain.
Treatment Approach
A gentle, progressive rehabilitation programme focused on gait training, hip strengthening, balance exercises, and confidence building. Home visits were arranged for the first two weeks, followed by clinic-based sessions.
Results
Within 4 weeks, Nasreen was walking independently with a single walking stick. By week 8, she was able to climb stairs and resume light household activities. Her confidence in movement improved significantly throughout the programme.
