What is Manual Therapy?

Manual therapy is a specialized form of physical therapy delivered with the hands as opposed to a device or machine. It includes skilled hand movements to manipulate muscles and joints.

Our certified therapists use their hands to apply pressure to muscle tissue and manipulate joints in an attempt to decrease pain caused by muscle spasm, muscle tension, and joint dysfunction.

Manual therapy techniques include:

  • Soft tissue mobilization
  • Joint mobilization and manipulation
  • Muscle energy techniques
  • Myofascial release

How It Works

Manual therapy works by applying precise pressure and movement to joints and soft tissues. This helps break down scar tissue, reduce muscle tension, improve blood flow, and restore normal joint mechanics. The hands-on approach allows therapists to feel tissue restrictions and address them directly.
