What is Dry Needling?

Dry needling is a modern treatment designed to ease muscular pain. During dry needling, a practitioner inserts several thin, short needles into your skin at trigger points.

The needles are called “dry” because they don’t inject anything into your body. The needles stimulate the tissue, not inject medication. This sets it apart from other injection treatments.

Dry needling is based on Western anatomical and neurophysiological principles and should not be confused with acupuncture, which is based on Traditional Chinese Medicine.

How It Works

Dry needling targets myofascial trigger points - hyperirritable spots in skeletal muscle. When a needle is inserted into a trigger point, it creates a local twitch response, which helps reset the muscle to its normal resting length. This reduces pain, improves blood flow, and promotes the body's natural healing process.
